Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton exits early vs. Braves with hamstring tightness

Giancarlo Stanton spent the offseason getting leaner in hopes of avoiding the leg injuries that have plagued him for much of his time with the Yankees.

For two-plus months, it worked.

That changed in Saturday’s 8-3 win over Atlanta.

Stanton left the game with left hamstring tightness and will undergo an MRI exam on Sunday, the Yankees announced.

Stanton suffered the injury scoring from second on Gleyber Torres’ double after Stanton doubled to open the bottom of the fourth.

“Hopefully, it’s not too significant,’’ Aaron Boone said. “He came to me and needed to come out. … Obviously, he’s dealt with these kinds of things in the past.”

Aaron Judge added: “He’s such a force for us in the middle of the offense. I hope we get some good news.”

Trent Grisham pinch-hit for Stanton to lead off the bottom of the sixth — and later homered in the seventh.

For Stanton, it’s just the latest in a long line of leg problems the 34-year-old has had since joining the Yankees prior to the 2018 season.

Unlike in recent seasons, Stanton hasn’t played the outfield at all and was productive at the plate, bouncing back from an ugly 2023 with 18 homers in 69 games.

He missed time last year with a strained left hamstring and in 2022 it was his left Achilles and a strained right calf.

In 2021, Stanton also suffered a strained right calf, as well as a strained left quad, which followed a left hamstring strain in 2020 and a sprained right knee in ’19.

All of those injuries required IL stints.

He’s under contract until 2027.
