Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 8, Mets 1 – June 22, 2024 – Bleacher Nation
The Cubs let the Mets have Friday’s game with ease, and the Mets returned the favor today. The bats jumped Tylor Megill in the first inning, and that was that. I like that they added a few more runs thereafter, though. Juuuuuust in case.
Yesterday, among other things, it was Jose Quintana beating up on his old team. Today, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Tomas Nido had did some beating up on the org that let them go. So that was a fun extra bit.
The Ankin Law “Making It Personal” Player of the Game is Jameson Taillon, even on a day with so much offense. Maybe the Cubs didn’t need to use it all up today (a joke), because Taillon dominated for seven innings. The game really was an inverse of yesterday’s in so many ways.
Kudos to Nido for his first game behind the plate with the Cubs – must’ve been on the same page well enough with Taillon!
Christopher Morel hit a 446-foot homer as part of a two-hit day, and PCA and Seiya Suzuki also had two hits. Mostly everyone got in on the action, and the big lead allowed Hector Neris to get in a low-stress 9th inning appearance.
