According to the arrest affidavit obtained by CNN and People, the rapper had been on a yacht when he got into a dispute with the crew. According to People, responding officers found him “yelling at the vessel occupants” and asked him to “sit down.” At that point, “[He] temporarily sat down and then began continuously standing back up, disregarding officers’ commands. Throughout the interaction, officers on scene could sense a strong smell of alcohol coming from the defendants’ breath.”
Travis was then asked to leave, which he did, before reportedly returning and “yelling once again, becoming erratic, disturbing the peace of the occupants of the marina and nearby residential buildings, causing a public disturbance,” the document says. At that point, he was arrested. Police claimed Travis “later admitted that he had been drinking alcohol,” stating, “‘It’s Miami.”
The rapper was reportedly given a bond of $650, which has since been posted. Sources familiar with the matter told BuzzFeed, “There was no physical altercation with anyone. This was a rowdy party and Travis was already bailed out for a few hundred dollars. He is already home.” These sources do not believe there will be further action taken against him.
It’s not the first time Travis has faced legal problems. He was previously sued over the 2021 Astroworld tragedy, along with Live Nation, which killed 10 people after a crowd collapse. Travis denied wrongdoing, and the matter is ongoing.
The same year, he faced controversy again after reportedly telling fans to “fuck up” a man who he claimed tried to steal his shoe while he was crowd-surfing.
