Florida State baseball vs. Tennessee in College World Series: Preview, game thread, how to watch/listen

The Florida State Seminoles baseball team continued its amazing single-season turnaround Tuesday with a win over the North Carolina Tar Heels, with its program-best 26-win improvement now at 49 wins — the most since finishing 50-17 in 2012.

In a win-or-go-home matchup, the Seminoles bashed their way to an early lead and eventual victory over the ACC regular season champions and one of the nation’s best squads. Pitchers Andrew Armstrong and Connor Hults were special on the mound, while the offense carried FSU to the next step of the College World Series bracket.

Up next, the Seminoles face the Tennessee Volunteers.

These two powerhouses squared off in the opening round with Florida State leading the majority of the game. A late-inning collapse topped off by a questionable call on a check swing by the ump ended up leading to a Volunteer walk-off. The loss could’ve sunk the Seminoles, but the team has continued to show its resilience.

The Volunteers enter the matchup with no losses in the College World Series, having beaten North Carolina themselves to send the Tar Heels to the loser’s bracket. If the Seminoles are to advance to the championship series, they’ll need to defeat the Vols twice.

While FSU is back on the field immediately following yesterday’s win, Tennessee enters Wednesday’s game with a fresh pitching staff. The Seminoles, the lone non-SEC team remaining in Omaha, will need their arms to step up in a major way against one of the nation’s strongest offenses.
