A new Starfield patch rolled out on June 14. While this release is largely focused on ironing out bugs introduced in the previous Starfield update, it also packs some new tools for modders.

The first version of the game’s official modding tools launched on June 9. Called Creation Kit 2, the toolkit debuted as part of a surprise Starfield update that also included new locations, gear, and missions. Many of those novelties were made available via Creations, the Starfield version of Bethesda’s Creation Club storefront for first-party and community-made add-ons.

New Starfield Update Fixes Tracker’s Alliance Quest, Creations, and More

Five days later, the developer put out another patch for the space-faring RPG. This latest release is officially framed as a hotfix, so it doesn’t have a new version number associated with it. What it does have is a number of fixes addressing bugs introduced in the first June update, including one affecting The Starjacker, one of Starfield‘s latest bounty hunting missions given by the Tracker’s Alliance. Specifically, the patch resolves an issue that prevented Adrastos from responding correctly if he was shot or scanned before the player attempted to interact with him on the streets of Akila City.

The newly released update also fixes Creations animations, which are now promised to work properly without having to restart the game after downloading them. Some stability improvements are also part of the package, Bethesda said, albeit without elaborating on the matter. Finally, the patch expands Creation Kit 2 with the addition of new art tools. Any mods that depend on the Starfield Script Extender (SFSE) will need to be updated in order to work with this latest version of the game.

The patch itself arrives during a somewhat turbulent time for the game, which is underlined by the ongoing Starfield review-bombing campaign. Its recent Steam reviews sit below the “Mostly Negative” threshold, with hundreds of users deciding to rate the game poorly in protest of its Creations pricing over the past week. Some fans have also joined the review-bombing effort over their perception of Bethesda’s priorities, bemoaning the fact that the developer pushed out paid mods before the Shattered Space expansion, which many have already pre-purchased by paying for the $100 Digital Premium Edition of the RPG.

The newly released update does not address any of those Starfield fan grievances. Based on the developer’s previously revealed roadmap that promised patches on a six-week schedule, the next big update for the game is likely to debut in late July or early August.
