Blake Lively opted for a romantic look as she promoted her upcoming film It Ends With Us.

On Friday, the actor stepped out in an ornate minidress to attend the Book Bonanza in Grapevine, Texas. She was joined by her co-star Brandon Sklenar, as well as Colleen Hoover, the author of the book their new film is based on.

Lively wore a black minidress embellished with sparkling floral embroidery. Green trimming turned into stems and leaves, while pink, yellow, and orange sequins made up the flower petals. Exaggerated hips and long straps gave the actor a new silhouette, while a bralette-shaped bodice and keyhole cutout segued into transparent long sleeves. The short skirt of the statement dress showed off her toned legs and criss-cross heels, which also featured some shiny beading.

To accessorize the look, Lively wore several chunky gold rings and dangling gold earrings. She opted for a subtle glam, adding a coral pink blush and matching lipstick to her sun-kissed look, while her long blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail with a deep side part. A crisp white manicure tied up her look.

At the event, the actor shared some of the challenges of adapting a wildly popular book like Hoover’s into a movie. “Some people will always like a book better than a movie, and some people like a movie better than the book,” she explained, per Entertainment Tonight. “But I think that we just did our best to honor the book and honor the fans, and, I think, really make something that works even by itself.”

She continued, “If you don’t know the book, the movie works. I don’t think there’s any way that if you read the book and you saw the movie that you wouldn’t be thrilled. We really worked hard on that. I also believe if you saw the movie and then read the book, you wouldn’t go, ‘Hold on, this isn’t like [the other].’ You can do either. I think they’re both really beautiful.”
