‘You’ve got your 15 minutes of fame’: Reds fan banned from GABP after stunt
CINCINNATI (WKRC) – “You’re a star this week, you’ve got your 15 minutes of fame.” That’s what a Hamilton County judge told the Reds fan who was arrested after running onto the field Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park.
Videos on social media show William Hendon, 19, running up to Cleveland Guardians center fielder Tyler Freeman and appearing to speak to him.
Hendon ran to left field while being pursued by a police officer. The Ohio State student from Cleves stopped and did a backflip before the officer used a Taser on him.
Judge William Mallory told Hendon everybody thinks you landed the backflip. Hendon replied, “Pretty sure I did.”
Hendon was initially charged with a felony trespassing charge. That was amended in court to a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass on a place of public amusement. He also faces an obstructing official business charge.
Hendon was allowed to get out of jail without posting bond but is banned from Great American Ball Park, for now.
