I Packed This Linen Dress for Two Trips in a Row and Didn’t Have to Iron It Once

As a frequent traveler, I’ve really mastered the art of strategic packing. I prioritize styles in my suitcase that are versatile enough to wear multiple ways so that I can save space while still having plenty of outfit options to choose from.

While that looks a little different for every destination, whenever I’m headed to the beach I reach for lightweight dresses that can easily double as a bathing suit cover-up. This Cupshe halterneck style has become an instant staple in my wardrobe for that very reason.

I packed the breezy dress for two back-to-back trips to Florida and the Hamptons. And while I was initially nervous that the linen material would wrinkle easily in my suitcase, when I arrived at my first destination in the Sunshine State, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was immediately wearable. I didn’t even have to steam or iron the style. Plus, it was so compact that I was able to fold it effortlessly into my carry-on with plenty of room to spare.

The sweetheart neckline and A-line silhouette were equal parts flattering and comfortable, and the cutouts provided additional venting without making the dress feel overly revealing. It also has range. I elevated the style with heels for a dinner out in Florida but could just as easily switch-up the look and wear it as a bathing suit cover-up during my beach stay in Montauk.

Even though the halter dress looks (and was named) as a linen style, it’s actually made from 100 percent cotton, which I found softer and more comfortable than authentic linen. It was breathable in the humid, 100+ degree heat but still felt like enough coverage when the temperatures dropped in the Hamptons.

While my recent travel has cemented the Cupshe dress as a permanent summer staple, I have my eye on plenty of other versatile styles, including this “super cute” jumpsuit that “fits perfectly,” according to reviewers, the crochet cover-up shoppers called “lightweight” and “full coverage,” and the drawstring mini dress that’s functional for “really hot days” or cooler nights.
