How concerned are you with the state of Brandon Aiyuk negotiations

It’s that time of year again: the part of the show where we wonder what the hell is going on with contract negotiations for the San Francisco 49ers.

This year’s contestant: Brandon Aiyuk.

And it’s going all over the place. First, there was the speculation he might be traded before—or during—the 2024 NFL Draft. That didn’t happen, and for anyone still thinking it might happen, that well may be drying up. Though the 49ers might shop Deebo Samuel still.

Then there is the actual money. Can the 49ers afford him? Well they potentially could have before numerous other offers came flying in. Does he want to be there? Well, that was the idea but now it seems like they are at a stalemate heading into training camp.

And then there’s this. former NFL wide receiver and Aiyuk’s personal wide receiver coach, T.J. Houshmandzadeh chimed in with some insight on the negotiations. Originally, per Houshmandazadeh, Aiyuk was going to work out with him, but decided against it expecting a deal from the 49ers. That didn’t happen.

So now we have an unsigned Brandon Aiyuk potentially getting pissed and fans wondering “will they or won’t they” as we head into the summer.

I was going to make this a reference to the classic, pre-KP Niners Nation Doom Index, something James Brady used to do, but I also don’t own the intellectual property of that. So you’re going to have to deal with a boring “normal” poll.

How concerned are you about the state of negotiations between the 49ers and Aiyuk? Are you getting a little concerned or do you think he’ll get locked up at the end of the season?

I’m not too worried yet. This is going to be a difficult deal and if there is anything to fight about, they will. Be it guarantees, length; they will fight. Nick Bosa came at the 11th hour last year, but the deal got done. Though, the thought of Aiyuk missing a training camp may be concerning.
