National Eucharist Pilgrimage to travel through Green Bay next week

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A National Eucharist Pilgrimage is expected to travel through the Green Bay area next week

It began its journey in May with four groups of young adults stepping off from four different starting points at each corner of the U.S. The small groups, all traveling with Jesus in the Eucharist, will bless over 6,000 miles of the country in the shape of a cross by the end of its journey.

The group traveling the Marian route, which started in Bemidji, Minnesota, is expected to travel through the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay next week, stopping at the national shrine of St. Joseph on the St. Norbert College campus on Saturday, June 15th.

Leaders with the Diocese of Green Bay say they’re excited to welcome worshipers and non-religious people to the area for the experience.

“I think all of us are on a journey no matter what faith we happen to be or our background,” said Father John Girotti, the vicar general at the Diocese of Green Bay. “We’re all going somewhere, and so this is an entering into where God is leading us, today and now at this point in history.”

The journey will end in Indianapolis a little over a month from now for the 83rd National Eucharistic Congress.
