Kate Middleton ‘may never come back’ to her previous royal role after cancer treatment: report

Kate Middleton’s cancer battle may not only keep her away from the public eye for longer, but it could potentially shake up her role within the royal family, according to a new report.

The Princess of Wales has remained largely out of the public eye since revealing her cancer diagnosis to the world in March.

And it appears as though she “may never come back in the role that people saw her in before,” a source told Us Weekly.

The insider added that the mom of three is currently “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back” after undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment following an undisclosed cancer diagnosis.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams elsewhere noted that once Princess Catherine returns to her duties, “it will be [based] on medical advice, and it will be very carefully balanced.”

The Post has reached out to Kensington Palace for comment.

The report comes just weeks after a source claimed that Middleton, 42, may not appear publicly as a working royal for the rest of the year.

“Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance. I am told that Kate’s diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year,” a royal insider told The Daily Beast last month.

“I would not rule out another video message updating the country on her health,” the source said. “That proved to be a very effective way of keeping the conspiracy theorists at bay.”

In a pre-recorded video on March 22, the Princess said doctors discovered her cancer during a planned abdominal surgery in January.

She also noted that she is now in the early stages of “a course of preventative chemotherapy.”

Despite the mass speculation, the Princess’s family friend recently said that she has “turned a corner” with her cancer treatment in recent weeks and is feeling a lot better.

it seems as though time away from the public eye has been good for her, as the course of preventative chemotherapy has reportedly been successful.

“It has been a great relief that she is tolerating the medication and is actually doing a lot better,” the royal’s family friend told Vanity Fair.

“It has, of course, been a very challenging and worrying time. Everyone has rallied around her — William, her parents, and her sister and brother.”

Her husband Prince William, for his part, has reportedly been leaning on a new “inner circle” that has been helping him get through this difficult time.
