Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh has become the second Jolie to drop her father’s last name — legally, that is. Shiloh filed a court petition to change her legal name to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie on May 27, the day she turned 18, the Los Angeles Times reported. The decision was Shiloh’s alone, a source told Entertainment Tonight. “Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself,” the source claimed. The news comes amid her parent’s protracted winery battle and divorce, which has been making its way through the courts since 2016. Brangelina’s legal battles revealed allegations of abuse against Pitt, who is accused of assaulting Jolie and their children on a flight the year Jolie filed for divorce. The Maleficent star herself legally removed her “Voight” from her name in 2002, after being estranged from her father, the outspoken actor Jon Voight.
As for the rest of the former couple’s six children? Zahara introduced herself without the hyphenated Jolie-Pitt in a recent performance at her college sorority, simply going by Zahara Marley Jolie. Let’s hope the next generation of Jolies can break the curse.
