President Joe Biden honored the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent Super Bowl victory on Friday at the White House, with the NFL team’s biggest stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes donning suits alongside their teammates.
Tight end Kelce wore a Fear of God suit, choosing the boxy California Blazer, a unisex wool suit jacket crafted in Italy. The large double-breasted jacket from the brand’s fall 2023 collection featured horn button closures, padded shoulders and concealed button cuffs. He contrasted the oversize silhouette with matching tapered pants, which included front pin tuck detailing and four-pocket styling. Kelce completed his look with a lapel pin from the Secret Service.
“My man [Travis Kelce] …cleaned up at the White House,” FOG founder Jerry Lorenzo wrote on Instagram, adding, “Classic American luxury.”
Founder Jerry Lorenzo presented FOG’s first-ever runway show at the Hollywood Bowl last year in April. The designer presented looks with blanket-like tailored layers, long-line blazers and more relaxed styles that embraced silent luxury.
“My fellow Americans,” Kelce said after President Biden invited him to speak at the podium. “I’m going to be honest, President Biden, they told me I’d get tased if I came up here, so I’m going back to my spot,” he joked before turning the microphone over to Clark Hunt, the chairman and CEO of the Chiefs. Biden also tried on a Chief’s helmet.
Kelce has a history of favoring suits with large silhouettes, and his style evolution has only grown bolder since he started dating Taylor Swift last summer. At Netflix’s “Quarterback” premiere last July, he wore an oversized mint green suit. He also wore a custom ensemble by Mike Amiri that featured a cropped jacket and baggy trousers for his Super Bowl 2024 pre-game arrival in Las Vegas last February.
