Top 20 Best-Selling Games For April 2024 In The US

It’s that time again, as Circana has released its latest monthly report that offers insight into how the US video game industry is performing. The report includes April’s best-selling games and financial figures and other data points regarding the industry’s health and fortunes.

For April, the PS5 game Stellar Blade was the top-selling game of the month. It also rocketed up the charts to become the No. 16 best-selling game of 2024 overall after just one month.

Helldivers II, which remains 2024’s best-selling game overall, was No. 2 in April, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Sea of Thieves, and Fallout 4 rounding out the top five.

Sea of Thieves is notable because it surged from No. 55 in March to No. 4 in April, thanks no doubt in part to its release on PlayStation. Another first-party Xbox game, Grounded, surged from No. 167 in March to No. 12 in April, also thanks in part to Microsoft’s decision to bring the Xbox game to PlayStation.

Total spending on game software rose 2% to $3.736 billion in April. However, hardware sales tanked by 43%, falling to $208 million, while accessories spending dropped 4% to $152 million. Overall, across games, hardware, and accessories, total spending on video games in the US for April 2024 slid 3% to $4.096 billion.
