Apple Brings Back iPhone 14 Pro For First Time—At Lower Price, Refurbished

Apple has a clear policy for its Pro iPhone models: they’re on sale for a year and then retired when the next Pro comes along. Regular iPhones stay in the mix for longer and you can still buy the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 alongside the latest iPhone 15. Now, in a rare move, Apple has suddenly restored the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to its refurbished store.

And there are even ways to buy the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max from other sources, for example, if you shop with Amazon—though unlike Apple, Amazon has had these phones in refurbished condition, called Amazon Renewed Premium, for some time.

So, why would you do this? The obvious answer is that it saves a lot of money. Refurbished iPhones sold by Apple offer the same one-year warranty as new models. Apple also promises they contain a brand-new battery, so you can feel sure it will have a full life ahead of it, and new outer shell.

If you feel the iPhone 14 Pro is advanced enough and the benefits introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are things you don’t need, then there are appreciable savings to be made.

For instance, the iPhone 15 Pro Max costs $1,199 and up, but the iPhone 14 Pro Max started at $999. And the refurbished models, which are all unlocked to work with any network, start from $849 for the Space Black model with 128GB storage, a savings of $150 over the original price and a lot less than a brand-new iPhone 16 Pro Max. The price for Renewed Premium quality at Amazon for the same Space Black phone is $844.97, or you can pick it up in two colors Apple isn’t currently offering, to wit, $814.97 for Deep Purple, and in Gold, but I don’t recommend this offer as it’s a lot more: $1,050.41. Seriously, buy it in Space Black and put a gold case on it!

The savings when you buy from Apple grow as the storage does, so the 256GB model, in Space Black, or in Silver finish are both available refurbished for $929, which is $170 less than the $1,099 you’d have paid to buy it new. Amazon has this storage capacity for $872.97 in Space Black, $874.97 in Deep Purple, and a less appealing $1,007.07 in Gold.

At Apple, you can save $200 on the model with 512GB storage, where the Space Black, Purple, Silver and Gold colors are all available in refurbished condition for $1,099. Meanwhile Amazon’s prices for this storage level are $924.97 for Deep Purple, $949.97 for Gold (yes, cheaper than the 128GB or 256GB options), $999.97 for Silver and $949.97 for Space Black.

The 1TB version is available from Apple for $1,269 (that’s $230 off the original new price of $1,499) in Space Black and Silver. Though it’s not in stock at Apple in the other colors, it is at Amazon. Amazon’s prices are: $979.97 for Deep Purple, $989.99 for Gold, $1,034 for Space Black, $1,044.97 in Silver.

The iPhone 14 Pro is also reduced and available in seven variations. If you want the 128GB storage, you can pay $759, that’s $140 off the $899 that the phone originally cost in new condition. This is available in Space Black only. With 256GB storage, there are two choices, Space Black and Silver. These cost $849, which is $150 off the original price of $999. The same two colors are available for the 512GB storage models, that is, Space Black and Silver, for $1,019, which is $180 off the original purchase price of $1,199. And if you really must have the highest-available storage capacity, 1TB, then you can choose between Space Black and Silverfor $1,189, saving $210 off the $1,399 list price.

Amazon’s prices for the iPhone 14 Pro in Renewed Premium condition are also lower than Apple’s and there’s more variety in terms of colors. You can choose the 128GB model in Space Black or Deep Purple for $714.97, that’s around $184 off the original price when new. The Gold finish sells in Renewed Premium for $804.18, a still-decent discount of just under $95.

Prices for the 256GB version are $772.97 for Gold, $862.85 for Deep Purple, $840.96 for Space Black and $865.97 for Silver. Choose 512GB and you can find Space Black for $844.97, Gold and Purple for $879.97 or Silver for $917.78. The maxed out 1TB storage costs $884.97 in Deep Purple (a further discount on Amazon’s Renewed Premium price of $929), $889.97 for Gold, $949.97 for Space Black and $999.99 for Silver.
