Lizzo Reacts to ‘South Park’ Joke Naming Ozempic Alternative After Her: “My Worst Fear”
Lizzo is reacting to South Park referencing her in their latest special, The End of Obesity, centered on weight loss drugs.
In a blind reaction video posted on her Instagram, the “About Damn Time” singer shared her thoughts on the long-running animated series’ new episode, which premiered Friday.
“Guys, my worst fear has been actualized,” she said at the beginning. “I’ve been referenced in a South Park episode. I’m so scared.”
Lizzo proceeded to play the clip that features a conversation between Sharon and Sheila, the moms of Stan and Kyle. Sharon explains that her doctor wouldn’t prescribe her any weight loss medications like Ozempic because she doesn’t have diabetes, however, “there’s a whole new obesity drug for those of us who can’t afford Ozempic and Mounjaro.”
Sharon reveals she controlled her “cravings to be thinner” with a fake drug called Lizzo.
As the “Truth Hurts” artist drops her jaw and covers her mouth, seemingly in shock, an upbeat medication commercial starts playing for Lizzo.
“FDA-approved Lizzo makes you feel good about your weight, and it costs 90 percent less than Ozempic. … In case studies, 70 percent of patients on Lizzo no longer cared how much they weighed,” the narrator of the fake commercial said. “Lizzo helps you eat everything you want and keep physical activity to a minimum. … Ask about the power of not giving a fuck with Lizzo.”
Once the footage concluded, Lizzo said in response, “That’s crazy. I just feel like damn, I’m really that bitch.”
“I really showed the world how to love yourself and not give a fuck, to the point where these men [South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone] in Colorado know who the fuck I am, and put it on their cartoon that’s been around for 25 years,” she continued. “I’m really that bitch, and I show you how to not give a fuck and I’ll keep showing you how to not give a fuck.”
South Park: The End of Obesity is currently streaming on Paramount+.
