I’m T+L’s Senior Shopping Editor, and These Are the 20 Amazon Memorial Day Deals You Shouldn’t Sleep On

I may be Travel + Leisure‘s senior shopping editor, but first and foremost, I’m a summer baby. You may think that summer is my favorite season because my birthday falls in June, but it’s actually because of the warm weather and longer days, which make me more inclined to get outside and explore. And, we can officially consider it summertime now that Memorial Day is here — and so is Amazon’s annual (and epic) sale. This year, the retailer is treating shoppers to up to 56 percent off sitewide

My calendar is already booked with trips — each of which requires its own set of travel accessories and gear that I have yet to buy. Sound familiar? If you’re in the same boat I am, let me tell you a little pro tip: use the Amazon Memorial Day Sale to score deals on everything that you need. At the top of my list are new luggage pieces to replace my worn-out suitcases, game-changing accessories like compression packing cubes, and, of course, summery travel clothes to add to my closet. Below, are my top picks from the thousands of markdowns that I’m sure will delight any traveler with their functionality and low price tags. Keep scrolling for the 20 best deals from the Amazon Memorial Day sale.

Rockland London Hardside Spinner Wheel 20-inch Carry-on

Amazon

I have a lot of short trips planned, and I prefer using a suitcase over a duffel bag or weekender for the rolling convenience. But, I don’t want to be weighed down by my bulky 22-inch carry-on (and definitely don’t want to check a bag). Instead, I’ll be picking up this ultra-roomy 20-inch Rockland suitcase, which shoppers say can fit up to two weeks’ worth of clothes, while it’s up to 52 percent off during Amazon’s Memorial Day Weekend sale. With it in tow, I’ll be able to bring all of the clothes, shoes, and travel accessories I need without having to worry about running out of space.

Czyinxian Wide-leg Flowy Pants

Amazon

Amazon is a great place to find those last-minute wardrobe pieces for your trip. Right now, I’m on the hunt for a comfy pair of flowy pants that I can wear on the plane, around the pool, and out to dinner with a nice top. These newly dropped, wide-leg ones are the winner with their $24 price tag (which is thanks to an on-site coupon). They’re lightweight, relaxed-fitting, and super-stylish with their ruffled waistband and elegant drape. Oh, and they have pockets!

Apple AirTag 4-pack

Amazon

I’ll also be using the Amazon Memorial Day sale to shop for my boyfriend, who is going on his first international trip this summer. I think he’ll be checking a bag, so I want to make sure that he has at least one Apple AirTag handy in the event that his suitcase gets lost. Luckily, this set of four is on sale, and it has enough AirTags to ensure that he can stash one in his backpack, his wallet, his passport holder, and whatever else he’d want to keep an extra eye on when he’s on the go.

Bagail 6-piece Compression Packing Cube Set

Amazon

I’m already a proud, packing cube-using traveler. But, I realized that I’ll need some extra help getting everything I need for my three-week-long trip to New York in my carry-on. For this difficult task, I’m turning to Bagail’s on-sale compression packing cube set. It comes with six packing cubes in varying sizes to accommodate everything on your packing list, and each one compresses down to two-thirds its size to help you free up luggage space. Trust me, these are a must-buy.

Athlefit Women’s Double-buckle EVA Sandals

Amazon

A summer spent in sandals is one well spent — but only if they’re comfortable sandals. To make it through the warm-weather months blister-free, I’m investing in a pair of EVA foam sandals to ensure that my feet are always supported and never rubbed the wrong way by an uncomfortable design. These cushy Athlefit sandals look like ones nearly double their price tag, and they’ve got grippy traction, arch-hugging footbeds, and waterproof exteriors, so they’re ready for any adventure.

Anrabess Crop Top Wide-leg Capri Pants Two-piece Set

Amazon

I’m known to overpack, which is why I like to opt for travel clothes that are versatile to be worn in different ways to help lighten my suitcase load. Right now, I’m all about the two-piece set trend, and I’m using Amazon’s Memorial Day sale to refresh my summer wardrobe with this Anrabess matching set. Currently on sale for $42, the elegant-looking duo comes with a cropped tank top and flowy, wide-leg capri pants, and you can wear them together or pair them with other shirts and bottoms to expand your wardrobe. Plus, this look can also be sported as a swim cover-up or plane outfit if needed.

Dokotoo Color-block Button-down Shirt

Amazon

Speaking of swim cover-ups, this summer, I’ll be using this majorly discounted Dokotoo button-down shirt as mine. It’s already got an oversized fit, but I’ll be sizing up so I can get away with wearing it as a dress when I’m around the pool or spending the day at the beach. I love the summery color combo and that its lightweight cotton material won’t make me sweaty in the sun. When my travel itinerary doesn’t involve soaking up rays, I can see this top making a great everyday shirt with shorts or flowy pants for casual outings.

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Premium Noise-canceling Overhead Headphones

Amazon

This is the summer when I’ll finally replace my uncomfortable over-ear headphones. They always leave my ears sore when I wear them for more than one hour, which isn’t ideal when you’re flying or embarking on a long travel day. I have my eye on Sony’s WH-1000XM4 Wireless Premium Noise-canceling Headphones, which are $100 off this weekend and have more than 45,000 five-star ratings from shoppers for their impressive noise-canceling capabilities, long-lasting battery, and useful features like a built-in microphone for phone calls and Alexa voice control.

Tommy Bahama Classic Backpack Beach Chair

Amazon

In my experience as a travel editor, Memorial Day sales are the best way to score big savings on beach gear — especially pricey items like beach chairs. I have some coastal California road trips on the horizon, and I’ve been looking for the perfect deal to help me get my boyfriend a beach chair for cheap. Right now, this highly rated Tommy Bahama one is a rare 23 percent off, which brings its price tag down to $65. That’s the right price for its convenient backpack straps, storage pouch, cup holder, insulated cooler pouch, headrest, and fun beachy print.

Oileus Extra-large Four-person Beach Tent

Amazon

Beach tents are other items that hardly ever go on sale, but this Memorial Day, you (and I) can get the Oileus Extra-large Beach Tent for 35 percent off (and you can clip the on-site coupon to unlock even more savings). I’ve been on the hunt for a sun shelter to extend my beach days that’s spacious, easy to transport, and doesn’t require much hassle to set up. This on-sale beach tent packs down into a carrying bag and offers protection against 99 percent of the sun’s UV rays, but it’s also made with breezy yet durable polyester that won’t make it too toasty when you’re inside.

Cupshe V-neck High-waist Bikini Set

Amazon

As a senior commerce editor, I love to use Amazon to find deals on sets of clothing and swimwear. After all, every trip needs a new bathing suit, right? So, why not sweep up an amazing deal on your next two-piece? Right now, I have my eyes on this high-waisted duo from Cupshe, which is on sale for $35 (yup, that’s how much you’re paying for the top and the bottoms). The top has a flirty V-neckline that still offers plenty of coverage, and the matching bottoms are high-waisted so I can comfortably move around the water, the pool deck, and the shore without needing to readjust anything.

Heeta Waterproof Pouch 2-pack

Amazon

My summer kicks off with my 30th birthday trip to Florida, which will be filled with lots of beach time and water activities. I’m always nervous about damaging my phone when I’m near the water, so I’ll make sure to bring one of these waterproof pouches along for extra peace of mind. They’re also touch screen-compatible, which means that I’ll be able to use my phone and snap pics when I’m paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling. And, they’re roomy enough to double as fanny packs for land adventures.

Jisulife Portable Neck Fan

Amazon

This just may be your best purchase from the Amazon Memorial Day sale. Wearing a neck fan may seem dorky, but it’s something that you’ll be grateful for when you’re on a sightseeing tour in the sweltering heat, hiking in the middle of the day, or suffering through a toasty flight or train ride. My friend let me borrow theirs on an unexpectedly hot hike this spring, and I’m not missing this chance to get one on sale.

TheFitLife Nordic Walking Trekking Poles

Amazon

Speaking of hiking, there’s a local trail that I’ve had difficulty completing due to its steep declines and massive rocks, and my lack of gear. So, you can bet that I have these nifty trekking poles in my Amazon cart, and that I’ll be snatching them up while they’re $25. In addition to making my descent down the trail smoother, these hiking poles will help alleviate any pressure from my knees and back, and keep my hands comfy with their ergonomic and cushy grips. That trail will be mastered in no time.

FashionMe Spaghetti Strap Satin Tie-front Midi Dress

Amazon

My job also introduced me to Amazon’s stunningly affordable collection of wedding-appropriate dresses. I have a wedding at the end of the summer that I’ll need a floral dress for, and this on-sale satin number from FashionMe is begging to be added to my cart. It’s only $46 and it looks like something that I could buy from brands that would cost at least triple this price. It comes in 16 different colors, but it’s not the only summer wedding guest dress that’s caught my eye. I’m also considering trying this flowy one-shoulder dress from Merokeety (on sale for $39), Zesica’s popular square-neck, puff-sleeve dress that’s 30 percent off with an on-site coupon, and the Dowerme Midi Smocked Bodycon Dress, which was just marked down to $40.

Ytonet Carry-on Garment Bag

Amazon

I’ll obviously need something to help me transport my wedding guest dress to and from the ceremony. Enter, the Ytonet Carry-on Garment Bag. The ideal travel bag for minimalist packers, the duffel-looking carry-on is equipped with a garment bag to preserve and protect your formal wear so it arrives in perfect condition. And, there’s even extra room to pack whatever else you’ll need for your trip (think: phone chargers, a purse, an extra change of clothes, and more). It’s only $39 right now, which is a steal in my book.

Sfxulix Large Travel Cosmetic Bag

Amazon

Another important element of my travel gear that needs upgrading is my toiletry bag. When I’m traveling for an event, I like to bring as much makeup, skincare, and hair care products as I can — but my current makeup bag wasn’t exactly built with any organization in mind.  That’s why I have this large-capacity cosmetic bag in my cart; it’s equipped with helpful pockets, pouches, and slots to hold everything I need, and it opens wide so I can see everything inside it.

Fitrell Unisex Compression Sock 3-pack

Amazon

This will be my boyfriend’s first long-haul flight ever, and I don’t want him to board it without a pair of compression socks. Great for promoting circulation, they’ll alleviate any swelling and make him feel more comfortable in coach. And, I can steal one of the pairs for myself since I have a few flights coming up. In fact, I might buy two packs since the three-piece sets are on sale for $17 this weekend.

Sojo Square-frame Polarized Sunglasses

Amazon

I never go anywhere without a pair of sunglasses, but after a recent trip left my favorite (and pricey) pair damaged, I vowed to replace them with an equally versatile, polarized, and stylish option. Luckily, Amazon has these trendy Sojo square-frame sunglasses on sale, and you can bet that I’ve got the black and brown pairs in my cart already.

Hanes Originals Cotton Joggers

Amazon

Last but not least, my guy needs a designated pair of travel joggers. On our first flight together, he wore jeans and a belt, which slowed us down at TSA security. Since he’ll be traveling solo, I want him to be able to get through smoothly and be extremely comfortable on the flight, so I’m picking him up a pair of these cozy Hanes joggers that are only $17. They’re made with breathable cotton, as well as soft polyester to ensure comfortable wear — even for long periods of time. I know he’ll also like the cuffed ankles, the stretchy waistband, and the pockets.
