Royals destroy Tigers 10-3

For the second consecutive night, the Royals tore apart Tigers pitching in a 10-3 win. The victory puts Kansas City 12 games over .500 at the 50-game mark.

It didn’t take long for the Royals to break through off former first rounder Casey Mize. In the bottom of the first, Bobby Witt Jr opened the scoring with an infield single. Shortly after, Salvador Perez drove him home to make it 2-0.

One inning later, the flood gates busted open. Kansas City knocked Mize out of the game after putting up four more runs. It was highlighted by the longest home run of Witt Jr’s career (468 feet).

With the big cushion, Alec Marsh didn’t have to sweat much. Aside from allowing three runs in the fourth, he was solid. He managed to work through six innings and pick up the Quality Start.

The theme, though, continued to be the offense. the Royals pounded Detroit’s pitching staff all night long. Witt Jr homered again in the sixth and Hunter Renfroe tagged one in the seventh to reach double digits at 10-3.

After Marsh’s night ended, the bullpen kept things at a distance. Angel Zerpa, Sam Long and Nick Anderson recorded the final nine outs to take the series.

Kansas City, 31-19, will go for a perfect home stand tomorrow. Cole Ragans will square off with Tarik Skubal. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. CT.
