PlayStation Plus first free game for June is a banger

It’s time to return to a classic

Although it has yet to be officially confirmed by PlayStation, it seems as though next month’s PlayStation Plus catalog is about to get an absolute banger addition.

According to a post found on PS Deals, it seems as though the PlayStation Plus Classics catalog will be welcoming a 2002 classic to the service in June.

Twenty years later and Star Wars games are still going strong. Check out the most recent below!

Originally launched for the PlayStation 2, it will be finally making its way to the PlayStation 4 and 5 and players are beyond excited.

The game in question is none other than Star Wars: The Clone Wars which was developed by Pandemic Studios and of course, takes place in the vast Star Wars universe.

Combining “a unique mix of tactics and strategy in a combat-action game”, players will follow a legendary story that has long been a favourite for sci-fi fans.

Taking place near the end of and shortly after Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, The Clone Wars kicks off with the First Battle of Geonosis and sees players switch between Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu.

Consisting mostly of vehicular combat, Clone Wars features 16 missions spanning across 6 planets for single-player mode. However, the game’s offline multiplayer mode offers 4 game types: Conquest, Control Zone, Academy and Duel.

Despite being over 20 years old, Star Wars: The Clone Wars remains one of the classics with the title sitting at a 6.7 user score over on Metacritic. Although that seems pretty low, it is still quite impressive for such an old title.

One positive review read: “True Star Wars fans or action shooter fans will find plenty to enjoy with the game. If you don’t have people to play with, the single player can still add a challenge on hard mode and the survival wave mode is fun too even if by yourself. It’s worth a play at the very least.”
