Local travel agent takes short trip to Hardin County Jail

Beaumont’s arguably most infamous travel agent made a short trip to the Hardin County Jail July 10 when, at 2 a.m., Traveluxe Official owner Mary “Emily” Lockard-Furry turned herself in on a warrant out of Chambers County. 

According to Capt. Scott Delacerda with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Lockard-Furry surrendered on a warrant alleging a theft of property charge between $2,500-$30,000; she was released on a $15,000 bond set by Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Rod Ousley the same day. 

Previously, Lockard-Furry was arrested and released on bond June 18, charged with theft by deception, a state jail felony, following a Jefferson County grand jury indictment and search of the travel agent’s Bevil Oaks home the day prior. 

Lockard-Furry is accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from Southeast Texas clients, as well as several out of state victims and offering nothing in return for massive vacation payments. 

According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Capt. Crystal Holmes, there are more than 30 open criminal cases against Lockard-Furry alleging theft. Victims are encouraged to contact the JCSO Criminal Investigations Division at (409) 835-8411.
