Rose McGowan ‘can’t stop crying’ after ‘Charmed’ sister Shannen Doherty’s death
Rose McGowan revealed just how emotional her late “Charmed” co-star Shannen Doherty’s death has been for her.
“I can’t stop crying,” she replied to a comment on Instagram on Sunday. “A world without Shannen Doherty is inconceivable.”
The “Jawbreaker” actress, 50, further honored Doherty with a video that showed numerous behind-the-scenes photos of the the pair.
“Shannen Doherty had the heart of a lion. Passion for craft is often mislabeled as trouble. Shannen was passion,” McGowan captioned the post.
“I met her in the 90s [sic] and was awed. Getting to really know her later in life, a beautiful gift. This woman fought to live.”
McGowan credited the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum with knowing how “to be a star” because “she was one since childhood” and had an inspiring amount of work ethic.
“Shannen’s great love for directing, for acting, [‘Charmed’ co-star] Holly [Marie Combs], her friends, her parents, dog and her beloved fans was legendary,” the “Scream” actress continued. “Our lives had been intertwined in a unique way.”
McGowan alluded to the infamous drama on the set of “Charmed” between Doherty and Alyssa Milano, writing that there were “dark forces” who then wanted her and Doherty “hate each other,” but McGowan and Doherty instead chose “love and respect.”
“May angels and God carry her to the holy kingdom where she is healthy, young and wild forever,” McGowan concluded. “Rest now warrior, we will never forget you dear sister 🎭.”
The “Heathers” star died on Saturday, July 13, after a nearly 10-year-long battle with breast cancer. She was 53.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie,” Doherty’s longtime publicist, Leslie Sloane, announced in a statement.
“The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”
