Is fashion taking solace in gimmicks? A few viral fashion moments under spotlight

“In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different” as rightly said by Coco Chanel, is something the fashion landscape is preaching today. Rehashing the vintages might be a trend, but innovation is the future, and these meme-worthy/viral fashion moments second this thought.

Fashion goes above and beyond any of our imaginations today. Rehashing old trends will always be there, but pleasing the GenZ heart needs a little more than that. Looks and trends waltzing down the runway might not be the direct way to GenZ wardrobes, so labels have begun taking solace in gimmicks. One day it’s a meme and the next day it’s a trend! Luxury Maisons have started to make adjustments according to the audience while keeping their signature aesthetics intact. Some found humour in accessories while others had fun with fabrics, but at the helm of it all, we are witnessing fashion turning into many things, fun being one of them. From robot babies, and undone clothes to DIY couture, just when we thought we’d seen it all there’s another series of viral fashion moments proving us wrong. With that said, these are some gimmicky and viral moments that caught our eye.

Viral fashion moments that caught the eye

Looks like a tomato to me! (Look again)

The debate of whether Tomatoes are a fruit or a vegetable just got a wildcard interpretation. If you’re not a ‘tomato in my sandwich’ kind of person that might just change and you might fall in ‘Loewe’ with them, courtesy of fashion’s latest viral obsession. A couple of days ago I stumbled across Jonathon Anderson’s social post about how a tomato exuded a ‘Loewe’ energy. We can’t explain how, but it just did! Followed by the same, we saw that meme turning into reality with the viral Loewe Tomato clutch. If it were not for Jonathan Anderson I’d still be looking at tomatoes with the same old notion.

The Coperni conundrum

A true representation of the ‘should I go for shorts or pants’ conundrum, but Coperni conveniently chose both! Coperni’s latest collection introduced us to another conversation starter, the asymmetrical denims call out to the cool it-girls to give this a try. I mean is it a trouser or shorts? That’s something only Coperni knows, but all we know is that this got us all talking.

Schiaparelli spoke, and how?

Talk of viral fashion moments and not giving Schiaparelli a mention is no less than a crime. A regular at kickstarting conversations and leaving us spellbound, Schiaparelli is here with yet another element that got us all to talk. The golden sculpted mouth clutch by Daniele Roseberry is par excellence. Call it a gimmick or fashion, whatever it may be it’s giving Royalty and sass. I mean it’s not every day that you see golden lips mounted on a clutch with a shiny lip stud hanging on the face.

Forget high heels, it’s time for two heels!

Jacquemus, another regular in case of viral fashion moments. The Maison’s latest showcase was in itself as viral as it could get, courtesy of the scenic location. But what caught our eye was the ‘double-heel sandal’ waltzing down the path and leaving us in a conundrum of what we exactly saw. This distinctive piece immediately causes the netizens to talk about it. While we’re still managing to not fall on one heel, Simon Porte Jacquemus was busy curating another challenge for us.

Imagine chocolate, but make Louis Vuitton-flavoured

It’s not a bag, gimmicky clothing or a pair of shoes, instead, it’s a chocolate spread. Yes, you heard that right, even your pantries can now access Louis Vuitton’s extraordinary luxury. After dropping a sandwich bag, the brand extended the realm of its innovation and launched a velvety hazelnut chocolate spread. Priced at a whopping $2,255, it quite literally ‘spread’ across social media like wildfire.
