Ethan Page wins NXT championship at Heatwave
The main event of tonight’s (Sun., July 7, 2024) NXT Heatwave premium live event at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada featured Trick Williams’ latest defense of the NXT championship in a Fatal 4-Way that featured the upstart Je’Von Evans, the hard charging Shawn Spears, and relative newcomer Ethan Page.
This was originally going to be a singles match pitting Williams vs. Evans but Page and Spears managed to work their way into it. Still, it was clear who the star of this show was:
Yeah, he’s that guy.
But he is not the champion anymore.
How it happened is hard to believe.
A Fatal 4-Way is always chaotic, simply by the nature of the number of wrestlers in the damn match, but this was an utter masterclass in breakneck action. Evans, in particular, had a spotlight match, as he was flying all over the ring — and outside it — doing some truly impressive work.

Holy shit, indeed.
It was clear by the end of this match, if it wasn’t already, that Evans is something special and has a very bright future ahead of him, both in NXT and on the main roster.
The finish, though, saw Williams hit the Trick Shot on Evans and then one on Page, who fell on top of Evans while Spears was dragging Trick Willy out of the ring, leaving him unable to break up the pinfall. And that’s what gave Page his first championship in NXT.
Wow.
