Caitlin Clark opens up in heartfelt post about her historic WNBA triple-double

Caitlin Clark opened up about some “fun” moments from her historic Saturday.

“Fun was had with the girls,” she said in a caption on a series of photos on her Instagram after becoming the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double, which will increase her odds for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.

She accomplished the historic feat during a thrilling 83-78 upset win over the league-leading Liberty on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, where she had 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds.

Clark shared several photos that captured her smiling during postgame press coverage along with action shots of her big afternoon.

The 22-year-old also posted a shot with teammate Katie Lou Samuelson on the court and a photo of her signing jerseys, basketballs, posters and signs while meeting young fans.

“I am enchanted to meet #22,” one of the signs read.

Clark came close to the triple-double feat last week, falling just short of one rebound against the Mercury in the 88-82 Fever victory last Sunday, but nabbed it in the fourth quarter against the Liberty on Saturday.

“Obviously, it’s really cool,” Clark told reporters Saturday. “My teammates have been finishing the ball really, really at a high rate. My assist numbers, that’s because of them.”

Outside of the record, there was certainly some fun had over getting the better of the league’s best team while increasing the Fever’s playoff odds.

If the 40-game season would to end today, the Fever (9-13) would hold the final playoff spot at No. 8 in the league.

The win over New York put them over the Dream (7-12) by 1/2 a game.

The team has greatly improved since starting out 2-9 as it got its feet under them with Clark, the No. 1 pick in the draft.

“Caitlin with a triple-double, my gosh, that’s incredible,” Fever coach Christie Side said following the latest win. “Holding New York to 16 points in the fourth quarter, that’s huge for us. That’s the No. 1 team in the league.”
