Meghan Markle feels ‘under siege’ as ‘life is not going in the direction she planned’: author

Meghan Markle reportedly feels “under siege” amid public ambivalence about her various new ventures — and her relationship with Prince Harry is under strain as a result.

“There is a growing rift between Harry and Meghan caused by Meghan’s increasing concern that her life is not going in the direction she had planned,” royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror.

“She loves media attention and hates the fact that surveys suggest she and Harry are no longer of much interest to the American public.”

Since stepping down as a senior member of the British royal family four years ago, Meghan has tried her hand at a number of projects with varying degrees of success.

The Duchess of Sussex created a Spotify podcast titled “Archetypes” as part of a purported $20 million deal with the streamer.

However, the show was not renewed for a second season after it garnered mixed reviews. Spotify’s head of Spotify’s global sports strategy subsequently slammed Markle and Harry, describing them as “f–king grifters.”

Markle has since signed with the media company Lemonada to create a new podcast. The series has purportedly been postponed until 2025.

Meanwhile, the former actress and her husband have also have a five-year Netflix deal that expires in 2025.

The Duchess recently wrapped her upcoming cooking show with the streamer, according to reports and hoping she has a hit on her hands.

Additionally, she’s set to launch her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which will seemingly sell jars of jam and dog biscuits, among other items.

Both projects have not captured the broader attention of the public in the way Markle’s movements did immediately after she stepped down from the royal family.

“With news that the couple’s Netflix contract may be under threat, along with the mockery that greeted the launch of her online brand, Meghan feels very much under siege,” Quinn claimed.

“She has reached the point now where she thinks that anything and everything she does will be unfairly criticized,” the author previously told the same publication.

“Like her husband, she feels that people are unfairly picking on her – she cannot understand why people don’t admire her work.”
