Reynolds broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth when he took a Luis Severino fastball to right-center for a two-run blast. In the seventh, Severino loaded the bases before handing it off to Jake Diekman, and Reynolds again went to right-center for a home run, this one a grand slam from the other side of the plate.

Tellez got the Pirates on the board in the fourth with a solo shot and put the cherry on top in the eighth with his grand slam. Jack Suwinski, Yasmani Grandal and Michael A. Taylor also hit solo shots.

That paired perfectly with Skenes’ start, in which he threw a career-high 107 pitches while striking out eight over seven innings of two-run ball. He has struck out 78 hitters compared to just 12 walks over his first 10 starts, joining Masahiro Tanaka as the only pitchers to strike out 70 or more hitters with 15 or fewer walks in their first 10 MLB starts since 1901.
