Kate Middleton waiting for green light to attend Wimbledon

Kate Middleton continues to undergo treatment for cancer, which she made public in a statement released early in 2024.

Fighting this illness is understood to have taken a lot out of her, and she has made just one public appearance since the confirmation of her condition.

This came at the 2024 Trooping the Color ceremony, where she was seen with her children on the royal balcony.

However, there is a degree of positive news coming out of the palace, with Princess Kate looking to get back into the public eye, starting with an appearance at Wimbledon this summer.

What is delaying Kate Middleton’s Wimbledon appearance?

The Princess of Wales is reportedly waiting for medical clearance before attending this year’s Wimbledon.

At 42, Kate is the patron of the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and traditionally attends the Wimbledon finals to present the trophies for the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Singles matches.

Last year, Kate attended the championship with Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte. It is uncertain which Royals will attend in 2024.

According to The Mirror, Kate awaits her doctors’ approval to confirm if she will be well enough to attend the Grand Slam.

While Kate hasn’t officially confirmed her attendance, All England Club chair Debbie Jevans hinted at a possible visit.

“We’re hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club’s patron, but her health and recovery is the priority. We don’t know what we don’t know. All we’ve said is that we’ll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible,” Jevans told The Telegraph.

It is also unclear if Prince William will attend, as he may be supporting the England football team during the European Championships in Germany.

As the Football Association (FA) president, William is expected to attend if the team reaches the final.
