Battlefield 2042 is Getting a Dead Space Event Next Week
In a new post on X today, the Battlefield team released a new trailer for a Dead Space event coming to Battlefield 2042 called “Outbreak.”
The limited time Dead Space collaboration will begin on July 9, 2024, and run through July 16, lasting just one week. Today’s brief trailer runs down the basic gameplay. Players will need to contain the iconic threat from Dead Space, survive together, and extract to win.
The Outbreak event joins Season 7, Turning Point, with the slogan “Hold the Horde.” There is also a nod to classic Dead Space helmets, possibly hinting at new cosmetics. The trailer does mention that the content “includes in-game purchases.”
The mechanics resemble some other familiar titles in the genre. Players must restock ammo and more in the midst of battle, and aim for an escape destination.
Fans quickly responded to Battlefield 2042’s Dead Space collaboration with more interest in a Dead Space 2 remake. Last April, EA shot down rumors that a Dead Space 2 remake was cancelled for EA Motive to concentrate on Battlefield.
Today’s trailer also comes shortly after EA announced that it will delist multiple legacy Battlefield games from digital stores. Those titles include Battlefield 4, Battlefield: Hardline, and even Battlefield 3.
However, Battlefield fans still look forward to the next title. EA recently said it is being developed by the largest team yet.
