Avelo adds early holiday travel deals, announces exit of 6 domestic markets

CORRECTION: The airport code for Greater Binghamton Airport was incorrect in an earlier version of this story. The correct code is BGM.

Good news, Avelo travelers: The airline has extended its flight schedule through the 2024 holiday season.

The bad news? A handful of domestic markets will soon be axed.

Avelo flight updates

While some hubs will have increased offerings through the end of the year, others places are saying farewell to Avelo.

Later this year, Avelo will exit the following six networks:

  • Capital Region International Airport (LAN) in Michigan
  • Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) in Michigan
  • Dubuque Regional Airport (DBQ) in Iowa
  • Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA)
  • Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) in New York
  • Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport (BRO) in Texas

“Unfortunately, these routes were not profitable, and we do not expect them to be so within a reasonable time horizon,” Avelo said in a statement to Simple Flying. “Before we commit to a new route, we conduct a thorough analysis of any available and relevant data before committing to a new route. In most cases, the routes we enter succeed and we continue service. However, with those that do not – like these six – we must make the difficult decision to exit them.”

Need a getaway?: Here’s the Wilmington Airport’s summer flight schedule

Avelo’s Wilmington Airport (ILG) will not be impacted by the cuts. In fact, Wilmington is one of the hubs already offering “travel-inspiring” fares for one-way travel starting at $41 and available for booking through the first week of January.
