“Hawk Tuah” girl Haliey Welch shut down rumors that she was fired from her job as a school teacher after her viral interview.
“I worked in a [bed] spring factory. I’m not a school teacher,” the 21-year-old clarified on Monday’s episode of the “Plan Bri Uncut” podcast.
“I’m not even old enough to be a teacher.”
Welch also denied online claims that she worked as a bartender in Nashville, Tenn.
“Also, I’ve heard rumors that your dad is a preacher?” host Brianna LaPaglia asked.
“My father is so far from a preacher, it’s crazy,” Welch replied. “None of it’s true at all.”
Welch became an overnight sensation in June after she shared her secret for oral sex was giving a “Hawk Tuah” and “[spitting] on that thang.”
She didn’t expect her man-on-the-street interview with Tim & Dee TV to go viral and initially didn’t want to be known for her raunchy remarks.
“The one time say something like that, of course, there is a camera in my face,” Welch added.
As fans sought Welch online, she was grateful to have the support of her family and family.
When asked how her parents reacted to the interview, she said, “They think it’s so funny. They know how I am though because you can never tell what comes out of my mouth … I just talk out of my ass.”
Amid her newfound fame, Welch hopes to build a career outside of being known as the “Hawk Tuah girl.”
“I don’t really want that to be my image,” she shared. “Hawk Tuah girl … I don’t want to be known as that.”
Welch plans to navigate her life one step at a time, traveling to Los Angeles and New York before eventually starring on a show and appearing on podcasts.
“There is more to come, don’t worry,” she said.
Welch’s interview with LaPaglia, 25, seemingly took place before the podcaster’s boyfriend, Zach Bryan, performed at Nissan Stadium in Nashville Friday.
Welch joined the “Heading South” singer onstage to sing “Revival” and to give the crowd a loud “Hawk Tuah.”
On Sunday, Welch also crossed paths with Shaquille O’Neal at Jon Bon Jovi’s restaurant and bar, JBJ’s Nashville.
