Gas prices see slight drop before 4th of July travel
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The average price of gas in the Peoria area dropped about a cent ahead of 4th of July travel.
According to a GasBuddy survey of 148 gas stations in the Peoria area, the average price of gas is about $3.66. That is about four cents lower than a month ago and three cents higher than a year ago.
The most expensive gas reported in the area was $3.89 a gallon. The cheapest gas in the area was $3.46 a gallon at the Costco in East Peoria.
The average gas price in the state was $3.82 a gallon while the average price in the U.S. was $3.46 a gallon.
“As we approach July 4 later this week, motorists have seen the national average price of gasoline inch up ever so slightly for the third straight week,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “While the increases have been fairly tame, with oil continuing to hold above $80 per barrel, we could continue to see the national average climb slightly.”
