TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A 9-year-old Tampa native put on a show for America’s Got Talent judges, earning an instant trip to the live rounds thanks to judge Heidi Klum.
Pranysqa Mishra, who Tampa natives may recognize from her viral performance of the national anthem before Game 1 of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers round two playoff series in 2022, performed a soulful rendition of Tina Turner’s “River Deep —Mountain High” during the July 2 airing of the show.
“I always just love singing,” Pranysqa said. “It makes me feel happy. Even when I was like 4 years old, I would just pretend like I have a microphone, and I would just sing like I’m singing to the whole world.”
Pranysqa said she was nervous in front of Judge Simon Cowell, but said it was her dream to perform for a large crowd.
“I feel like, literally, I’m dreaming because my big dream is singing in front of so many people and I’m on that big stage,” she said. “Now it’s coming true.”
Once in front of the judges, Pranysqa said her favorite artists are Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner and she planned to call her grandma if she made it through.
After her performance, Klum said she wanted to skip the other judge’s thoughts and let Pranysqa get right to that phone call.
“I want you to call your grandmother and say that Heidi Klum pushed a Golden Buzzer for you,” she said. “She did really, really well, grandma.”
